The Problem

With such a regionally diverse client base, Visser relies heavily on technology to provide their customers with industry leading service regardless of location. Their previous IT set up consisted of a Windows Small Business Server paired with a linux file system for security While this solution worked well in the past with its fairly small size, as Visser started growing the burden on the IT team was growing exponentially. Having no direct control over the shared folders, and the need to duplicate everything in Active Directory to the Linux share permissions, the IT administrator was not able to perform all necessary functions efficiently.

The Solution

In April 2011, after an extensive search for an optimized solution, Visser Consulting engaged with Benson & Associates Inc. Led by the technical experts at Benson & Associates, our team designed and implemented a new Virtualized server to replace both the SBS server and the linux file structure, replacing Visser’s existing outdated system.

The networking and server team at Benson & Associates was able to migrate the domain and all shared files over to the new server setup with almost 100% transparency to the client.

Using ESXi as the host operating system, Benson & Associates devised a 4 server setup. The end result was a series of 4 virtual servers with ongoing snapshots to replace the roles of the small business server and the linux file server Domain controller was utilized on its own virtual environment, as were the sql server, file server and web server Separating the roles gave a quicker response time to operating system failures, while keeping the backups offsite.

Benson & Associates partnered with the Executive Centre to create a fully functional data center that offered clients everything from a secure internet connection to a fully managed Information technology program. To ensure that service levels remain at their highest, Benson & Associates maintains a technical help desk that quickly responds to any issues that arise and fixes them promptly.
